Gun control advocates forever complain that America is unusual in the number of guns possessed by ordinary people.

What they never point out is that America is equally unusual in the amount of freedom enjoyed by its citizens.

Gun control is people control, and the development of free societies and the rapid advancement of living standards for the common people —as those societies blossom as the boot of monarchy and other authoritarian forms of rule are cast off—  has closely followed the spread of arms ownership by those outside of the ruling elite.

Authoritarianism cannot take hold while there are arms in the hands of ordinary folks.  And many viewers may be surprised by those behind “gun control” efforts, historically and in the present day United States.
